The word "SHEKINAH" (she ki nah) is a translation of a Hebrew word not found in the Bible but used in many of the Jewish writings to speak of God's presence. The term means "that which dwells," and is implied throughout the Bible whenever it refers to God's nearness either in a person, object or His glory. It is often used in combination with glory to speak of the presence of God's "Shekinah" glory. The Holman Bible Dictionary

History Brief of Shekinah International Missions

Shekinah Ministries International was birthed in the spring of 2000 as a Christian “non-denominational” mission outreach, with a primary calling and focus to the Latin American countries of Southern Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua.

In the spring of 2002 Reverend Nogues and his family, (at the directing of the Holy Spirit of God) sold the family business of 40 years, their home and most material possessions and departed for Honduras where Puerto Cortes became their foreign mission base.

In November 2004 final approval was granted by the federal government for a non-profit 501c3 mission organization and Shekinah Ministries officially became “Shekinah International Missions”. Established as an independent mission outreach with a home base in New Hampshire, USA. Reverend M. Peter Nogues was directed to represent the “body of Christ” and not one particular church, organization or group of individuals. Through obedience to this call Shekinah Missions has been blessed to work among several multi-denominations throughout Central America and witness a tremendous move of God through the salvation of souls and growth of God’s kingdom here on this earth. (We will not be presenting our churches on the “Day of Judgment” before Jesus - but rather those souls we were able to touch while on earth!)

Our primary vision is to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ and His kingdom. To accomplish this we aid and train new churches, pastors, missionaries, teachers and leaders in both the public and private sector. Our secondary focus is the distribution of Bibles, tracts, training and teaching materials for children and adults; along with the directed distribution of cloths, basic medicine, hygiene items, household goods, school supplies, blankets and food; as well as building materials for construction of new churches and repair to existing churches.

Since 2000 Shekinah International Missions has distributed more than 30 tons of donated goods along with hundreds of Bibles, tracts and training materials. SIM has aided in the construction and repair, both directly and indirectly of several “multi-denominational” churches and distributed Christmas gifts and back-packs with school supplies to several mountain villages.

Shekinah International Missions continues to fill containers annually with clothing, supplies, and a multitude of needed items to distribute to remote regions of Central America. Our work is primarily to those areas that include but not exclusively – the difficult mountainous regions of 1 hour to several hours walk; the Mosquito Coast regions of both Honduras and Nicaragua and the remote villages of the low lands and costal plains which are not accessible by motor vehicles.

There is so much more we could share of God’s goodness - but space and time would not allow.

*Shekinah Missions does offer both annual and semi-annual mission trips to Central American countries. These trips are both “open” and “closed” (available to all and restricted).
